Looking back at the year’s program is undoubtedly one of the most gratifying moments for a publisher, but it is also one of the most self-reflexive. Did our commitments, intuitions, and opinions transform into a consistent list of titles? Did our anchors in content-driven books, structured around typologies and in-house series, meet readers’ expectations? Did our criteria of quality and specialized interest offer the appropriate translation to complex artistic projects and practices?
If we judge by the growing interest we encounter from the art world’s professionals, the continuous encouragements we receive from booksellers and distributors alike, and the increasing feedback from an audience we intend to address more directly in the near future, we can surmise that yes, we did. But saying this brings to the forefront that it is only thanks to this support (from readers, publishing partners, sponsors, and all the actors in the complex circuit of publishing), that we are able to pursue our ambition: to weigh in on the current cultural debates by publishing the artists, writers, and curators whose works, we believe, will leave their mark on our culture.
It is the efforts of each of these individuals, of our team, of our associate editors and designers, as well as of our producers and distributors, combined with the work of artists and writers, that make this program exist and circulate—flipping through the pages of this catalogue, I can only feel indebted to them all.
